The story of one heroic woman’s coming to grips with her diagnosis of ovarian cancer, Wit is much more than a woman’s issue or a tale of an insidious cancer. It will touch everyone as it unflinching describes issues of life and death which affect us all. Edson’s play, her language, is totally engrossing.
Seascape

The action takes place by the ocean where a conventional older couple meet and get acquainted with an unusual younger couple and discover that despite major differences they have much in common. Seascape is an amusing and insightful look at life on this earth and the major hurdles most couples face as they make the journey through it.

Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision: should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues even if she’s not entirely certain of the truth.
The Pulitzer is to journalists and writers as the Academy Awards are to actors and directors. The prize is an annual US award given for outstanding journalism, literature and musical composition. The first Pulitzer for Drama was given in 1918 to “Why Marry” by Jesse Lynch Williams and ever since every aspiring journalist and writer hopes and dreams of one day being awarded a Pulitzer. It signifies the best of the year. In this first series we are proud to present stage readings of three Pulitzer winning plays, “Wit” (1999), “Seascape” (1975) and “Doubt” (2005).
Our staged readings offer an opportunity to hear, absorb and appreciate the language and structure that make these plays extraordinary. You are invited to join us for after performance discussions with the casts.
Refreshments including wine are available.
