Lanesboro Massachusetts
Not Just For Shopping at Berkshire Mall
Lanesboro Massachusetts may not be a very large town but, there are actually quite a few activities to do once you get there.
If you are a shopaholic, the main attraction is the Berkshire Mall Shopping Center where you can shop ‘til you drop.
Or, if shopping isn’t your idea of a good time, then maybe you would prefer to catch a movie at the Regal Cinemas 10 which is located in the mall.
Are you the outdoor type?
Well, if you are then, you are in luck!
There are some wonderful hiking trails located in Berkshire County and a few are located in Lanesboro.
Mount Greylock State Reservation has several trails to hike. Or, if you prefer, you can hike in Balance Rock State Park where you will find …what else???...Balance Rock.
Balance Rock is a 165-ton triangle-shaped boulder measuring approximately 15 feet wide and 30 feet long. After being deposited there by a glacier, this massive rock seems to defy gravity as it sits atop a much smaller rock. And, although it looks quite dangerous, it cannot be moved no matter how much force you try to put on it.
The Ashuwillticook Rail Trail is another place for outdoor entertainment. This former railroad passageway was converted into a paved way for recreational use. It allows you to walk, bike, skate, cross-country ski or snowshoe along its path which runs from Berkshire Mall Road to the town of Adams where you can enjoy wooded areas, lakes and streams along the way.
If you are a fishing enthusiast, you can find a number of places to fish in Berkshire County. In Lanesborough, these include:
Streams, rivers, and creeks such as:
- Churchill Brook
- Daniels Brook
- Hollow Brook
- Muddy Brook
- Pettibone Brook
- Secum Brook
- Town Brook
Larger bodies of water such as:
- Berkshire Pond
- Cheshire Lake
- Pontoosac Lake
Do you love camping?
There are also numerous campgrounds to be found in the Berkshires. These include Hidden Valley Campground and Mount Greylock State Reserve Campground which are both located in the town.
And, for the kids, you will find Camp Mohawk, one of many Berkshire County Massachusetts summer camps. This camp offers day camp and overnight camp on Thursdays to children, and family camp on the weekends.
Are you a golfer?
If so, there are many Berkshire County Golf Courses to be found. The Skyline Country Club may be just what you are looking for. Or maybe you would just like to practice at the Lanesboro Pitch N Putt which has an 18-hole par 3 putting green.
How about a game of mini golf? If mini golf is more your family’s style, then why not visit one of Berkshire County’s several mini golf courses. Baker's Golf Center has an 18-hole mini golf course along with a 300-yard driving range for your use.
And, right next door is Thunder Alley Go-Karts where the whole family can have a good time racing around the track.
In the winter, you can cross country ski at Mount Greylock State Reservation or Ashuwillticook Rail Trail.
When you are ready to have a bite to eat, you may choose from a variety of restaurants and eateries around the Lanesboro area.
So, if you are planning a visit, be sure to check out the many Central Berkshire accommodations located in and around Lanesborough. These include hotels, motels, bed & breakfast inns, and resorts.
