Visit Peru MA

Explore the Dorothy Frances Rice Wildlife Refuge

Peru MA is a small, yet beautiful town and the ideal place to “get away from it all.”

Although there are no museums, theatres or other indoor activities, the peace and quiet of nature is the attraction here.

If you love the outdoors, this is a place you may wish to explore. There are two state parks located in the area:

  • Peru State Wildlife Management Area – where you can enjoy hiking, fishing, and viewing birds and other wildlife.

  • Dorothy Frances Rice Wildlife Refuge - which features a large pond and a well-groomed trail system that leads you through a variety of wildlife habitats. There is a Visitors Center with trail guides available if desired. The six trails allow you to witness some of nature’s best and are used year-round by hikers and cross country skiers.

And, if you are into boating or fishing, you will find several lakes and streams as well. These include:

Streams, rivers, and creeks such as:

  • Bilodeau Brook

  • Cone Brook

  • Fuller Brook

  • Kilburn Brook

  • Tracy Brook

  • Trout Brook

Larger bodies of water such as:
  • Ashmere Lake

  • Tracy Pond

If you are looking for a place to eat, there are many restaurants and eateries located not far from Peru.

And, if you would like to stay in the area, there numerous types of
local accommodations for you to choose from.

So, if you love the outdoors, why not pack a picnic lunch and spend the day hiking, fishing, or boating in Peru.
