Savoy Massachusetts
Enjoy Outdoor Living At Its Best
The town of Savoy Massachusetts is a peaceful community located in the northeastern part of Berkshire County.
This quiet little town is home to the largest portion of Savoy Mountain State Forest, one of the most beautiful parks in Berkshire County. (The remaining portion is located in the town of Florida.)
During the summer months, picnicking, hiking, fishing, and mountain biking are just a few of the activities that may be enjoyed. Swimming is also allowed, although lifeguards may not be present at the swim areas. Therefore, swimming is at your own risk.
And, canoeing and boating are permitted but, only clean, non-motorized boats may be used to avoid the spread of harmful weeds. So, if you plan to boat, please be considerate and help protect the waters.
Camping is also offered year-round. In the old apple orchard, there are forty-five campsites and one group site which may be rented. Four log cabins are available for rental as well. These overlook South Pond.
There are three large ponds located in the this town's section of the State Forest: South Pond, Bog Pond, and Burnett Pond where fishing and boating may be enjoyed.
There are also several brooks where you can fish.
And, if you are a waterfall fanatic, there are several in the area to be viewed. The largest of the falls are Tannery Falls and Parker Brook Falls, with Tannery Falls being the largest and most beautiful of them all.
And, over 50 miles of walking, hiking, and mountain biking trails allow for exploration of the spectacular views of the park and its surrounding areas.
In the winter, many outdoor enthusiasts participate in activities such as off-season camping, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing.
So, if you are looking for the peace and tranquility of the outdoors, look no further than Savoy.
