Windsor MA Outdoor Retreats

Windsor State Forest, Notchview and More

Windsor MA is a lovely little town located in Central Berkshire County.

And, if you love the outdoors, there are lots of woodland areas for you to explore.

Enjoy hiking, bird watching, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, skate skiing, and skijoring (skiing with dogs) in Notchview Reservation.

At Windsor State Forest, there is much to do. Sit, relax and take in the views at the scenic viewing area or Windsor Jambs, a beautiful waterfall with a 50 foot drop. During the warmer months of the year, you can use the walking trails, go hiking, camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, and mountain biking. And, in the colder months, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

You can also visit the Eugene D Moran Wildlife Management Area. A wonderful area for those who love bird watching.

And, the Peggy Welz-Roberts Memorial Forest is a great place to enjoy the peace and solitude of nature.

If you are into swimming, boating or just looking for some good fishing spots, you will find several lakes and streams as well. These include:

Larger bodies of water such as:

  • Windsor Pond

  • Windsor Reservoir

Streams, rivers, and creeks such as:

  • Alder Meadow Brook

  • Clear Brook

  • Hume Brook

  • Mongue Meadow Brook

  • Shaw Brook

  • Steep Bank Brook

  • Tower Brook

  • Tyler Brook

  • Windsor Jambs Brook

  • Westfield River

At the end of the day, after enjoying all that fresh air, you may want to grab a bite to eat before heading home. If you are looking for a place to dine, there are a number of restaurants and eateries not far from Windsor.

And, if you plan to stay in the area for a while, there many types of
local accommodations for you to choose from.

So, if you love being outside, why not pack a picnic lunch and spend the day swimming, hiking, fishing, boating, or just relaxing at one of these wonderful parks in Windsor MA.
